introduction
Exquisite Enclave / Enclave Exquise (deriving its title from the cadavre exquis, or exquisite corpse Surrealist word/image game) unfolds in three different media: installation, print publication and Internet domain/website. These media are intricately linked. They inform each other at every level.

Internet research (read/write by its very nature — web ‘inventor’ Tim Berners-Lee: (...) this all works only if each person makes links as he or she browses, so writing, link creation and browsing must be totally integrated) generally feeds the conception and realization of my work since 1993. ExE brings together disparate interests, histories, projections, into narratives which I aim to sustain over multiple venues and events. Fair use Internet publishing provides for a common ground and steady channel to display such a flow of ‘notes, quotes and provocations’.

A first solo exhibition in over ten years, the Almere display is a learning experience, if anything. My ‘Internet years’ had never been planned to devour my attention the way they did (not...?). Neither will they end here. The expansion of networked data into material objects and situations is of ongoing interest. Reversely, the ‘radius loci’ of such instants reaches deep into networked information structures and promotes different accessibility.

Mine was never a vernissage-to-vernissage pacing for my arts, rather a long note. This presentation and its publications I can only imagine sustained and re-addressed in further makes and displays. This site will be the first to probably embody and certainly announce any new unfolding of enclavexquise.
